Not all books and literature may be used as credible references for your Chapter 2 or Review of Related Literature.
In fact, we have to consider some guidelines in choosing the most credible sources.
Check out the list below!
1. Is it relevant? Avoid using books, articles, and other references just because your research uses the same keyword.
2. Is it new? All written books are great but not all of them may be new. Instead of choosing references published 10 to 20 years ago, read sources published within 5 years. What was true before may have changed a lot.
3. Is it complete? This is applicable most especially among online sources. There are so many PDF copies but these are sections only. It’s incorrect to interpret a source without fully knowing its context.
4. Is it different? References should be unique and contributing new information. If you feel that you’re getting the same information out of your 20 books, it’s time to ask if it contributes new ideas. If not, it’s time to explore the library (or eLibrary).
Do you know where we can find credible sources? 🙂
