Just like you, I failed my entrance exam in college! It was heartbreaking, but it didn’t stop me from pursuing anything.
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new ” – Albert Einstein
Days before the entrance exam
I was ready to embrace my college journey with fun and optimism. Together with my senior high friends, we inquired as early as possible for college entrance exam. We, being close friends, planned to start college at the same school!
Of course, we didn’t want to limit our options into one. So we applied to different universities, passed the requirements, and shared reviewers or resources with each other. Ahhh. This is the beauty of having close friends.
Several weeks passed, the day of entrance exam came. I was sweating, nervous and anxious all day. Moreover, my parents came along to support me which made me happy. However, it added pressure on my part.
When I finished all the entrance exam test for certain universities, I felt a bit different but chose to ignore it. Brushing those feelings as nothing but a random emotional things I used to have. Not until, the result came out and made me realize the reason for it.
This was the result…
I was ashamed, disappointment, pathetic and useless. The thing that I always thought I was good at, was just a wishful idea I believed.
Reality slapped me and woke me up from the dream. I didn’t even have the courage to tell my parents that I failed them but I had to. At first, it was hard to cope with failure. I suddenly lost my passion at everything, and started eating and sleeping all day. Six months passed, and I just spent it for nothing.
It’s funny how a simple entrance exam or failure could lead you to gloomy days. It appeared to be minor for some but it made me wander with a heavy heart and mind.
After failing the entrance exam, what’s next?
Until one day, I woke up feeling fresh and new. I told myself that FAILURE is completely normal and acceptable.
We need mistakes so we can learn from them.
In fact, we can use it as a motivation to strive harder. Life doesn’t stop just because you failed. Life stops when you start giving up with nothing else to do.
Stop dreaming and start chasing your goal. Success will never be yours if you wouldn’t stumble along your way.
Currently, I am in the moment of trying again while doing my best to achieve the goal I’ve set. So, don’t stop believing yourself. Instead go and fulfill it.
Let’s try again NEXT YEAR!
