How to write an Essay

Essay is the common task we do in school. Our teachers ask us to explain, persuade, or even make a argument regarding on a certain topic.

Essay is not just an easy writing task. However, if we know the basics of writing an essay then we might find it exciting.

There are five essential steps in writing an Essay.

First, know your purpose.

When we write, we need to have a clear purpose. Do we want to explain on something?Do want to make a stand? or Ask the reader to behave in a certain way? If your purpose is clear then you know why you are writing.

Second, understand your subject and make your topic specific.

The reason why we find it difficult to write an essay is because we don’t have specific topic. One must have a clear subject and controlling ideas.

Third,  understand the format and draft of your controlling ideas.

We know that essay has the following basic structure: Introduction, Body and Conclusion.  Introduction has the main subject your controlling ideas. The body has the explanation of your controlling ideas. The conclusion is the summary of your main points or controlling ideas.

If you know the structure of essay that’s the time you can write your draft.

The reason why we cannot write an essay is because we are afraid to just write and let our ideas flow. Sometimes, when we write, we give so much time on thinking of the grammar and other technical stuff. That makes the writing process slow.

Fourth, edit and add details to your draft.

If you are done with your draft, that’s the time you can edit the grammar, punctuation and add more details to your controlling ideas.

Fifth, publish and evaluate with your friends.

When you publish your essay make sure that you ask someone to read it. It’s better to ask some piece of advice from your friends or your family than to just let yourself evaluate it alone.
